DESIGN SKILLS TO LEARN

  • using watercolor crystals to create an explosive background [another idea: see video for a paint blowing technique from a past project]
  • drawing in an american flag in motion
  • drawing on vellum: smooth, delicate paper you can see through. often used in hand drafting

MATERIALS [SEE ART TOOLS IN MENU FOR DETAILS + LINKS]

  • sketchbook
  • extra sheet of watercolor paper
  • crimson, orange, yellow watercolor crystals, spice containers to shake crystals, spray bottle filled with water
  • [another idea if you don’t have watercolor crystals: see video for a paint blowing technique from a past project. you will need: poster board, yellow + red tempera/poster paint, water, cups, straws]
  • paper towels
  • vellum [other ideas: tracing paper or plain white paper]
  • thin and thick black sharpie
  • tape
  • 3M foam tape
