We’ve really been looking forward to drawing hot air balloons for this project! Clouds are so interesting! We really enjoyed learning more about them! This is a great project for watercolor pencils!
MATERIALS: (SEE ART TOOLS IN MENU FOR DETAILS + LINKS)
- watercolor sketchbook or watercolor paper
- pencil
- watercolor paint pallet
- watercolor pencils
- small, medium, large paint brushes
- thin gray marker to write text
- extra watercolor paper
- 3M foam tape
STEP NO. 1
- draw hot air balloons and clouds in pencil
- link to “the lost sock art teacher” with step by step instructions on how to draw a hot air balloon
- link to a weather wiz kids on clouds
STEP NO. 2
- paint background sky with paint from pallet
STEP NO. 3
- paint hot air balloons using watercolor pencils
- see demo on using watercolor pencils
STEP NO. 4
- draw, cut, and paint w/ watercolor pencil clouds that “pop off” the page
- tape on with 3M foam tape
- add text ….. I was so fascinated with clouds that I wrote a journal entry on them LOL….
