Design skills

  • emphasizing an element: napoleon’s signature hat as the focal point

MATERIALS (SEE ART TOOLS IN MENU FOR DETAILS + LINKS)

  • watercolor sketchbook or one piece of heavy white cardstock
  • extra watercolor paper or piece of heavy white cardstock for napoleon drawing
  • pencil
  • print out flags (attached)
  • scissors
  • glue stick or double face tape
  • yellow, black, red, white, gray paper
  • circle punch, circle template, or circular household items to trace
  • 3M foam tape

Step no.1

  • follow tutorial to draw napoleon with pencil on watercolor paper or heavy white cardstock

SteP no.2

  • print out flags, cut out, glue on page
  • be sure to layout flags where your napoleon won’t cover them

Step No.3

  • follow tutorial to design a napoleon hat

Step no.4

  • write history sentence in dark pencil or black felt tip pen

  • piñata inks

MATERIALS (SEE ART TOOLS IN MENU FOR DETAILS + LINKS)

  • sketchbook
  • piñata inks w/ piñata extender (other option: tempera/poster paint with water….see demo)
  • straw
  • poster board
  • 3” circle cutter (optional)
  • black paper
  • double face tape or glue stick
  • 3M foam tape
  • white gel pen…. we used souffle 3-dimensional opaque ink pens (other option: white color pencil)

Step no.1

  • watch demos to make planets: option a. pinta inks or option b : tempera/poster paint mixed with water

Use this demo for tempera/poster paint option

note: we did this demo for a volcano page…. the technique is the same

Step no.2

  • cut out planets …. we used a 3” circle cutter

Step no.3

  • adhere black paper to sketchbook with double face tape or glue stick
  • adhere planets with 3M tape

Step no.4

  • label sketchbook with white gel pen…. we used Souffle 3-Dimensional Opaque Ink Pens
